Trauma Counseling

Yes, what you have experienced has changed you.

Tons of research has found that stressful events can impact our bodies, minds and spirits. Your body is intended to do what it can to help you survive and that includes avoiding danger or even staying in danger because it feels like familiar territory.

All it takes to disturb your inner sense of peace and safety is one event, but most people can experience a collection of stressful circumstances overtime.

Although trauma does not define you, when left in a reactive state, “we act out the worst of ourselves in the places where it matters the most.” -Prentis Hemphill

Through counseling, you have the opportunity to understand why the things that once helped you survive have met their limitations.

You can learn to understand yourself more, the kinds of scenarios that close you off, the things that help you feel grounded, and how to set boundaries to foster a loving relationship with yourself and others. If you are feeling scared, thats ok, most people are.
